Mitzie Hewitt, DO, CPI
Mitzie J. Hewitt, DO, CPI is a board certified family practitioner residing in Traverse City, Michigan and has practiced Family Medicine in Northern Rural Michigan for 25 years. She is the owner and Medical Director of Northern Pines Health Center. Dr. Hewitt earned her Bachelor’s in Science at the University of Michigan, and then attended Michigan State University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine for her medical degree. She was a National Health Corp Scholar who went on to build her career within the same community that she served her scholarship obligation. Dr. Hewitt is also a certified Physician Investigator and enjoys participation in phase II-IV pharmaceutical research with her research team at Northern Pines Health Center.
Heidi Fite, MPA, PA-C
Heidi received her Bachelors degree in Dietetics from Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI, and her Master of Physician Assistant from Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, GA. Heidi is a registered dietitian and is nationally certified as a physician assistant.
Sydney Steger, PA-C
Sydney received her Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant studies from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, MI, where she also previously received her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science - Kinesiology with a minor in Psychology. Sydney is a nationally certified physician assistant. Sydney was born and raised in Clarkston, MI, but currently resides in Traverse City.

Members who reside in regions 2,3,5,7,8 or 9 may need to select a new Medicaid Health Plan. Those members should watch for a letter from MDHHS/the State telling you to pick a new plan. Mailings from the State are projected to begin on August 26, 2024. The letter will list your options for Medicaid health plan selection. We encourage you to enroll in Molina Medicaid Plan. If you do not make a choice by September 17, 2024, you will be auto assigned using a State algorithm on September 18, 2024, to one of the new plans entering the region.
If your preferred PCP isn’t listed on the letter, you can still select a plan and be auto assigned to a PCP. Then, when your preferred PCP is available, you can call the plan’s customer service team to request a change in your PCP assignment. A Northern Pines Health Center provider must be listed as your PCP PRIOR to services being rendered to ensure Medicaid coverage.
You can contact Michigan Enrolls to inquire or to pick a new plan – but you may not be able to until MDHHS opens enrollment changes to Members impacted by the Plans exiting.
